Project Summary

Weaving Cultural Threads through Design

Importance of Craft Studies

Craft studies reveal cultural depth and storytelling in design. Designers should value the artistry of craft and learn from handcrafted goods' sustainability lessons. Embrace this to support craftsmanship and enrich our collective experience.

Exploring the Artistry of Thushi Making

Experience the Kolhapuri Thushi, a Maharashtrian necklace that highlights Kolhapur's heritage. This choker features golden spheres on an adjustable rope, with intricate Ghagri designs and lac centerpieces. Crafted from gold, it complements Paithani sarees and blends artistry with timeless beauty, making it a cherished treasure.

Threads of Tradition Woven in Gold

Crafting Stories in Folds and Colors

Creating the Booklet

We began by creating a dummy booklet on A3 paper, experimenting with folding and cutting techniques. After meticulous layout adjustments and color explorations, we designed a final layout that showcased the essence of Indian craftsmanship with captivating cover and content pages.

A Kaleidoscope of Craftsmanship

The Final Booklet

The booklet reflects our creative journey, blending text and images with meticulous design. Each page reveals the heritage and artistry of Classic Crafts of India, inviting readers to explore and discover.

Embarking on a Journey of Creative Discovery

Learnings from this Project

Throughout this project, I embraced experimentation and tackled design challenges, mastering text and image placement, alignment, and visual composition. Innovative folds and cuts tested my creativity, while organizing data into a cohesive layout refined my skills.

This journey deepened my appreciation for Indian crafts and ignited a passion for preserving and promoting their legacy. I aim to use design as a tool for cultural storytelling, contributing to the future of this invaluable heritage
